This is the second book of a best-selling, Dark Fantasy series--over four and a half million Unlimited page reads.
Book five in the series, Relentless, has just been published.
My name is Ian O'Rourke, and I have unfinished business--the bone-crunching and bloody kind. I fight sorcerers for a clan of Celtic witches in Boulder.
It turns out, I'm a natural-born warrior, but raw talent isn't enough when my main target is Raul Escobar. He's the head sorcerer in the Rocky Mountain region. And he's the monster who organized the slaughter of my family.
My memory of that day burns deep in my heart, and I'm wiping out those who protect him. With every victory, I get closer to wrapping my hands around Escobar's neck.

Fantastic follow up to book one. I've already purchased Vengeance. The transition from book one to book two was almost seamless. It feels I already know the characters, all of which have grown and taken on lives of their own in your imagination.Product details

Sanctuary The Sorcerers' Scourge Book 2 eBook Michael Arches Reviews
I agree with with the the previous review, there needs to be a history or more detail about witches and sorcerer, the Celtic and Osage religion's so the story can be followed more. Lucky me in my younger years I studied Celtic religion and myth as well as North American Indian History because its interesting. I enjoyed the story and its constant movement forward. There could be improvement in more building on his relationship with his love interest but that was not the focus of the book. I am caught in the story cheering on the farm boy turned hero praying his new love and step daughter stay safe but he gets justice but I think he deserves to live quietly as a healer with his family not a fighter for that greedy head witch. I don't like her or trust her. So got a read book 3 to find out what happens.
While marginally better than the previous book the author leaves far to much unexplored. Characters are barely developed and inconsistent. The story itself is just thrown out there with no background at all. Who and what are the opposing sides? Why and how are they different and at odds? How do they exist in what is an otherwise normal world.
An interesting idea but poorly realized. The ways this series could be better are simply to many to enumerate.
I like that Ian is learning more about his various magic types, even though it started out as sheer survival necessity. Even though he is gaining in strength and ability relatively quickly, he is trying to not let it go to his head. I was going to add more about the story, but do not want to give too many details away. In this second book, the 'world' expands, an interesting mystery or two show up, and we meet more people (Both good and bad). On to book 3 now! )
I really like the premise of the books and like the starting of the series. When this started I was waiting to see the MC get stronger and learn to fight with magic and grow... That never happens. He has the same 4 spells he uses, most of the fights just come down to a slugfest where he is by far the worst hand to hand fighter. Yet some how he beats people that actually are good?
So I might try the next one but I really hope he grows and starts being a mage and not just a stocky emotional teenager (he should be 25) that luck's into wins.
Good read. Reminded me a bit of Butchers Dresden books.
Just as good as the first book in the series. Thanks for the escape.
Just finished book 2 and I am still wondering what's the magical difference between a witch and a sorcerer besides the magical language. Are sorcerers born? Or is it a choice they make early in their magical career? Can a sorcerer become a witch? And vice versa ...
Fantastic follow up to book one. I've already purchased Vengeance. The transition from book one to book two was almost seamless. It feels I already know the characters, all of which have grown and taken on lives of their own in your imagination.
